English Laundry Men’s Suits – Modern Tailoring & British-Inspired Style
Our Slim Fit Two-Button Suit brings together modern tailoring with British-inspired detailing for a sharp, contemporary silhouette. We crafted this suit for the man who wants versatility — whether you’re heading to the office, attending a wedding, or navigating a business-casual event, this piece delivers.
The jacket features notch lapels, working buttonholes, and our signature lining detail. The trousers are flat-front with a tapered leg and adjustable waist tabs, giving you a clean line without sacrificing comfort. We designed every detail to move with you, from the reinforced stress points to the stretch-blend wool that holds its shape through long days.
What Makes Our Suits Stand Out

Fabric & Construction Details
Every English Laundry suit starts with fabric selection. We source wool blends from Italian and British mills known for consistency and longevity. Our Slim Fit and Classic Fit suits use stretch-blend wool that rebounds after wear, while the tuxedo relies on Super 120s wool for its refined drape and subtle sheen.
Construction methods vary by model. The Classic Fit Three-Piece uses full canvassing at the chest, meaning a layer of horsehair canvas is hand-stitched between the outer fabric and lining. This technique creates structure that molds to your body over time. Our Modern Fit Tuxedo features half-canvas construction — canvassed through the chest and lapels with fused lower panels for a lighter feel. The Linen-Blend Summer Suit is intentionally unlined to maximize airflow, making it the lightest option in our collection.

Fit Guide & Sizing
Our English Laundry suits come in three core fits: Slim, Modern, and Classic. Slim Fit is cut close through the chest, waist, and trousers with a shorter jacket length and higher armholes. Modern Fit sits between slim and classic, offering a tapered waist without excessive suppression. Classic Fit provides a traditional drape with more room through the shoulders and a longer jacket that covers the seat.
We size our suits by chest measurement and offer regular, short, and long inseam options for trousers. If you typically wear a 40-inch chest in dress shirts, start with a 40R suit. Jacket sleeves should end where your wrist meets your hand, and trouser hems should break slightly on the shoe. Our flat-front trousers include side adjusters or belt loops depending on the model, giving you flexibility as your waist fluctuates.
Styling English Laundry Suits for Different Occasions
A suit’s versatility depends on how you style it. Our Slim Fit Two-Button works in business settings when paired with one of our dress shirts in white or light blue and a solid silk tie. Swap the tie for an open collar and add minimalist sneakers, and the same suit transitions to smart-casual weekend wear.
The Classic Fit Three-Piece leans formal but adapts with small changes. Wear all three pieces with a tie and pocket square for weddings or client meetings. Drop the vest and wear the jacket with dark trousers in a complementary fabric for a more relaxed approach to business casual. The vest alone over a dress shirt creates a sharp look for less formal events where a full suit feels too heavy.

Common Questions About English Laundry Suits
Slim Fit works best if you prefer a close-cut silhouette with higher armholes and a shorter jacket. Modern Fit sits between slim and classic, offering a tapered waist without extreme suppression — it’s our most versatile option. Classic Fit provides traditional drape with more room through the chest and shoulders.
We recommend ordering your usual chest size and trying the suit at home. If the shoulders feel tight or the jacket pulls across the chest when you button it, size up. If there’s excess fabric bunching at the waist or the shoulders extend past your natural shoulder line, size down.
Our Linen-Blend Summer Suit is specifically designed for warm weather. The unlined construction and linen-wool blend maximize breathability while maintaining enough structure for a polished look. We recommend this suit for outdoor weddings, tropical destinations, and any event where temperatures exceed 75°F.
If you need a year-round option, the Slim Fit Two-Button in our lighter wool blend also works in moderate heat, especially if you skip the vest and choose lighter shirt fabrics.
Most customers need trouser hemming and sleeve shortening. We build extra length into both so your tailor can adjust to your exact measurements. Waist suppression on the jacket is common if you’re between sizes.
Shoulder adjustments are expensive and often not worth it — if the shoulders don’t fit when you try the suit on, exchange for a different size. The shoulder seam should align with the edge of your shoulder bone. Sleeve and trouser length adjustments typically cost $20-40 total at a local tailor.
We recommend dry cleaning wool suits every 4-6 wears, depending on how heavily you perspire and the environment you wear them in. Over-cleaning breaks down the fabric and shortens the suit’s lifespan.
Between cleanings, hang your suit on a wide wooden hanger and let it air out for 24 hours before returning it to the closet. Use a garment steamer to remove wrinkles and refresh the fabric. Spot-clean small stains with a damp cloth rather than sending the entire suit to the cleaner.
Only our Classic Fit Three-Piece Suit includes a matching vest. The Slim Fit Two-Button, Modern Fit Tuxedo, and Linen-Blend Summer Suit are sold as two-piece sets with jacket and trousers.
If you want to add a vest to a two-piece suit, we offer coordinating vests in our suit separates collection. Match the fabric and color to your existing suit, or choose a complementary shade for a more fashion-forward look.
Super 120s wool uses finer yarn, resulting in a softer, lighter fabric with more drape and a subtle sheen. Our Modern Fit Tuxedo uses Super 120s for its elegant appearance under evening lighting. It’s more delicate than blended fabrics and best reserved for special occasions.
Standard wool blends (like those in our Slim Fit and Classic Fit suits) mix wool with polyester and elastane for durability, stretch, and wrinkle resistance. These blends handle frequent wear better and are easier to care for, making them ideal for office use or regular events.
We offer suit separates specifically for customers who need different sizes for jackets and trousers. If you’re a 40R jacket but need a 34-inch waist in trousers, order from our separates collection rather than a matched suit set.
Separates give you more flexibility and eliminate costly alterations. The fabrics in our separates line are designed to coordinate, so you can build a custom suit or mix pieces across multiple outfits.
